What can Have Tex do to Recover Lost Data from a Damaged Hard Drive?
Once on-site, Have Tex immediately begins the process of recovering your business's lost data. Starting with the least complicated techniques first, and gradually working up through more involved methods, Have Tex will help you get your data back quickly and affordably.
First, our technicians try to recover your data in place using leading software utilities to stabilize the hard drive and recover the data to another hard drive. If the software solution is unsuccessful, Have Tex will put the drive into a recovery chassis and run programs that attempt to recover the data. This can often take several hours. Finally, when all other techniques have failed, Have Tex will freeze the drive, which can momentarily restore broken connections and attempt to recover data until the drive heats up again. This process is repeated over and over until all useful data has been retrieved.
If none of those methods work, Have Tex can refer you to a company that can reconstruct your drive in a clean room. This is the most expensive option, often costing well over $1000.
What happened to your data?
Data loss on your hard drive can occur in one of two ways:
- Logical failure - The hard drive itself is working fine, but somewhere an error is preventing your computer's programs from accessing the files or data. This could be due to a lost partition, an accidental reformatting or any of a number of different reasons.
- Mechanical failure - This is when the hard drive itself is no longer working. Inside a traditional laptop computer, your hard drive spins at thousands of revolutions per minute while a mechanical arm moves a magnetic head back and forth reading the data. These parts are moved by motors that can become damaged by falls or worn out over time. When that happens, your computer can no longer control the drive, cannot access the files and data and cannot continue to function. Evidence of a catastrophic hard drive failure = The Blue Screen of Death.
